Mosquito Genie™ Kills Female Mosquitoes

Mosquito Genie™ encourages early extermination of female mosquitoes.

In addition to using a Mosquito Genie™ try some of these tips to prevent a new generation of mosquitoes from hatching. Female mosquitoes lay 100 to 300 eggs at a time, so if you take some precautions and stop one female from laying eggs, you can have 100 less mosquitoes next week.

Plants that mosquitoes don't like:

Try adding one or two of these plants to your yard. These plants wont' kill the mosquitoes, but they will help keep them away.

  • Basil
  • Lemongrass
  • Citronella
  • Rosemary
  • Catnip
  • Marigolds
  • Garlic
  • Tansies (mums)

Common Locations for Mosquitoes to Multiply:

If you remove these common habitats from your yard, the mosquito population in your area will decrease.

  • Old tires - They are warm, wet, dark and stale. These qualities make it a perfect place for mosquitoes to hatch.
  • Buckets - Don't leave standing water in buckets once you are done using them, dump them out and add vinegar to kill mosquitoes
  • Wheel Barrel - If you leave it right side up, it can fill with rainwater and become a haven for mosquito breeding.
  • High grass and weedy overgrown areas - Control your grass and weeds, if you let it go, mosquitoes will inhabit these areas and cause problems for the whole neighborhood
  • Rain Gutters - Keep your gutters clean! Clogged gutters prevent the flow of water and standing water allows baby mosquitoes to hatch.
  • Swimming Pool Covers - Swimming pool covers can be a blessing or a curse when it comes to mosquitoes, depending on how you use them. If you cover your pool after using it, then this will prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs in your pool. The key is when you take the cover off of your pool, you can't just crumple it up and throw it in the corner. Make sure to fold it and put it away, either inside of a shed, your garage or inside the house. A crumpled pool cover provides a warm and wet environment for mosquito breeding.
